Music Theory at Ormiston

We are now taking enrolments for Group Music Theory classes beginning in term 4, available for students in year 5 and above. Students involved in the Vocal & Instrumental Tuition Program at Ormiston College are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to enrol in group theory classes. The basics of music theory are vitally important for progress to occur on any instrument including voice. Some benefits of enrolling in theory classes are:

The AMEB requires the following prerequisites before undertaking practical examinations:

·           Grade 6 practical — Pass, Grade 2 Theory of Music or Musicianship or Music Craft
·           Grade 7 practical — Pass, Grade 3 Theory of Music or Musicianship or Music Craft
·           Grade 8 practical — Pass, Grade 4 Theory of Music or Musicianship or Music Craft
·           Certificate of Performance — Pass, Grade 5 Theory of Music or Musicianship or Music Craft
·           AMusA practical — Pass, Grade 5 Theory of Music or Musicianship or Music Craft
·           LMusA practical — Pass, Grade 6 Theory of Music or Musicianship or Music Craft
 
Classes will be held each Monday afternoon in the Senior Music Room. The times of each class will be advised once enrolments for term 4 are finalised. Classes will begin in week 2, Monday 9 October.
