A huge thanks and congratulations to all the students, staff and parents who supported the Junior Music, Art and Drama showcase at the end of Term 2. We were presented with some beautiful performances from our Junior Choral and Drama students and a vivid and engaging display of wonderful visual art.
State Honours Ensemble Program Congratulations!
Congratulations to the following Ormiston College musicians who were selected by Griffith University Open Conservatorium, to represent the College in the State Honours Ensemble Program (SHEP). This is great achievement and recognises the talent and hard work of these students. Thank you also to the tutors and conductors who nominated them and whose work with the students every week contributes to the development of their wonderful musical skills.

ChoralFest Congratulations!
Congratulations to our talented OC Singers who represented the college in the Treble Voices Choir at the Australian National Choral Association’s Opening Concert for CHORALFEST 2017 during the school holidays. Fifteen talented singers from Year 5 and Year 6 joined with choirs from across Brisbane to perform music from acclaimed Australian choral composers in the beautiful setting of St John’s Cathedral on Ann Street in the city.
The concert also included performances by St Mary’s International School Varsity Ensemble, Tokyo; “Euphony” from Kristin School, Auckland; Crescendo Choir, Tasmania; and local ensembles Canticum and the Voices of Birralee. Thank you to Ms Hall for her efforts in preparing and supporting the students for their involvement in this special event.
OCTAVE to Melbourne!
A big congratulations to OCTAVE for making it to the National AUSACA Finals! This talented group will now be travelling to Melbourne in September to battle it out for their chance to be crowned the Australian A Cappella Champions! Ormiston College Band Workshop Day
On Monday, members of the Ormiston College Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble had the opportunity to engage in a full day workshop with our special guest conductor, Katrina Mothershaw. The day included some intensive work on current pieces to boost the band’s readiness for Semester 2 competitions and other events, as well as some important ensemble leadership activities and exploration of new repertoire and musical ideas. A big thank you to all the students for their hard work and commitment to this day and also to the staff; Mrs Taylor, Mrs James and Mr Harding, for their continued efforts in guiding and motivating our students to musical success.
